Eastern China's Jiangsu province consumed 59.9 TWh of power in February, up 13.02% from a year earlier, official data showed.
This brought the total consumption to 113.6 TWh in the first two months, down 0.98% year on year.
The highest grid load was recorded at 104.15 GW, up 1.78% year on year.
The province produced 48 TWh of power in February, a 9.9% rise year on year, adding to a total of 90.5 TWh in the first two months, down 5.5% from January-February 2022.
By end of February, the province's installed power generation capacity was 164.19 GW. In February, the province added 2.7 GW of capacity, including 770 MW of thermal power capacity, 60.7 MW of wind and 1.88 GW of solar.
The province built 66.48km of UHV transmission lines and 1.3 million KVA of substation capacity in February.
Jiangsu, with a population of 85.15 million by the end of last year, has long been one of China's manufacturing hubs and powerhouses for international trade. The province's GDP, which reached 12.29 trillion yuan ($1.78 trillion) in 2022, took up one-tenth of the nation's total, with its foreign trade volume accounting for 12.9% of the national total.
