Colombia's largest coal producer Drummond exported 2.35 million tonnes of coal in February, up 4% from a year earlier and nearly 27% from a month ago, data from the company showed, mainly driven by a surge in shipments to Poland.
The company shipped 677,403 tonnes of coal to Poland in January, five times higher than the year-ago level, and also 155.7% higher than January. Drummond signed a term contract last year to supply 1 million tonnes of coal to Poland, increasing to 2 million tonnes annually from 2023.
Shipments to European's ARA ports rose to 497,500 tonnes last month, compared with 330,960 tonnes in January and 173,236 tonnes in February 2022.

Drummond also shipped 88,000 tonnes to China's Taiwan, up from zero in January and a year earlier.
Also, it provided 273,000 tonnes to Mexico, down 32% from January but up from zero in February 2022, and 168,605 tonnes to Turkey, up from zero in January but down from 687,000 tonnes a year ago.
