India's power producer Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPCGCL) issued a tender seeking up to 587,000 tonnes of seaborne thermal coal for its three power plants, according to a latest tender document.
The wanted coal should meet following specifications: calorific value should be no less than 4,700 Kcal/kg GAR on an as-received basis, sulfur and ash content no higher than 1.0% and 20%, respectively, on an air-dried basis, and total moisture no higher than 32% on an as-received basis.
The tender is open to coal from any origin. Bids have to be submitted by 12:00p.m. India Standard Time on March 21, and will be opened at 3:00p.m. on March 22.
The tender came after the government instructed coal-fired power plants to run at full capacity from March 16 to June 15, to ensure the country's power supply during the peak demand period.
Market sources said Indian buyers strengthened purchases of Indonesian coal to replenish their stocks.
