Northwestern China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region produced 48.40 million tonnes of coal in the first half of this year, hitting a record high with daily output of over 0.25 million tonnes, Ningxia Daily reported.
27 unified-dispatched power plants across the region held thermal coal stocks covering more than 20 days of use, at a relatively high level. During the same period, natural gas achieved balanced supply and demand and oil products were in ample supply.
It was understood that Ningxia seriously implemented energy-related strategies to ensure a stable and orderly energy supply.
In January-June, electricity generation totaled 102.1 TWh, of which, new energy-based power generation accounted for 27.5%, 4.1 percentage points (pps) higher than in 2022.
Driven by new projects put into operation and increased air-conditioning demand, overall electricity demand in the region rose rapidly to reach a new high with a maximum of 15.73 GW.
Total power consumption came in at 66.6 TWh in the first half year, up 7% from a year ago, which was 3 pps higher than China's year-on-year growth.
