China's coal mining and washing industry earned a total profit of 412.76 billion yuan (around $57.78 million) in the first half year, falling 23.3% year on year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on July 28.
The total revenue of the coal mining and washing industry stood at 1,769.52 billion yuan during the period, down 12.6% on the year, while costs were registered at 1,118.51 billion yuan, 6.9% lower than the year-ago level.
The profit in all mining industries of the country declined 19.9% year on year to 681.68 billion yuan in January-June, while revenue reached 3,001.44 billion yuan, down 10.1% from a year ago. Costs of the all mining industries were 1,911.77 billion yuan, sinking 4.8% from a year earlier.
From January to June, major industrial enterprises (with annual revenue from main business operations of 20 million yuan or more) across all fields reported 3,388.46 billion yuan of profit, down 16.8% year on year. Their revenue came in at 62.62 trillion yuan, dipping 0.4% year on year, while the total cost rose 0.5% to 53.37 trillion yuan, data showed.
