China exported 50.89 million tonnes of steel products in January-July 2023, rising 27.9% from a year ago, according to latest data released by the General Administration of Customs on August 8.
Export value totaled $53.19 billion during the period, down 8% on the year. That put the average export price of steel products at $1,045.3/t, 28.1% lower than the previous year.
In July alone, finished steel exports were registered at 7.31 million tonnes, a 9.5% year-on-year increase and a 2.7% month-on-month decline, data showed.
The volume was worth $6.34 billion, down 40.9% from a year earlier and 5.4% on the month, with the average export price calculated at $866.97/t, falling 46% from the preceding year and 2.8% from June.
