Daily crude steel production at key member firms of China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) stood at 2.14 million tonnes during July 21-31, falling 4.99% compared with the previous ten days, the CISA data showed.
Daily output of pig iron averaged 1.92 million tonnes during the same period, down 4.22% from ten days ago. Daily output of finished steel inched down by 0.35% from ten days ago to 2.16 million tonnes.
Nationwide, daily output of crude steel is estimated to decline 3.49% from ten days ago to 2.93 million tonnes. The daily pig iron production is calculated at 2.47 million tonnes, falling 3.29% compared to ten days earlier, and daily finished steel output is estimated at 4.05 million tonnes, down 0.21%.
As of July 31, CISA key member steel mills held 14.49 million tonnes of finished steel in stock, 7.54% or 1.18 million tonnes lower than mid-July and down 1.98% or 293,100 tonnes compared with the same period in June. The volume was 12.71% or 2.11 million tonnes lower than the same period in the preceding year, data showed.
