China's coal exports up 2.3% on yr in Jan-Feb, GAC

China's coal exports totaled 620,000 tonnes in the first two months of 2023, up 2.3% year on year, customs data showed.


The exports were worth $217.81 million, up 22.8% year on year, data from the General Administration of Customs showed.


February saw coal exports fall to 250,000 tonnes, down 12.8% year on year and 32.43% month on month. Value of the exports reached $89.93 million, up 0.8% year on year but down 29.68% month on month. The average export price was derived at $359.71/t, up by $52.18/t YoY and $14.09/t MoM.


January's exports rose 16% year on year to 370,000 tonnes, which was valued at $127.88 million, a 45.1% rise.


China imported 29.17 million tonnes of coal in February, soaring 159.7% year on year. This added to 60.64 million tonnes in the first two months, up 70.8% from the same period last year, the GAC data showed.
