China Taiwan's coal imports totaled 4.34 million tonnes in February of 2023, down 10.28% year on year but up 4.08% from the preceding month, the preliminary customs data showed.
The import value was $1.15 billion, rising 30.35% year on year and 3.37% from January, with average import price at $257.22/t, rising 45.28% on the year but dipping 0.68% on the month.
Taiwan's intakes of Australian coal stood at 2.43 million tonnes, up 3.78% year on year and 9.97% month on month. Taiwan imported 639,400 tonnes of coal from Indonesia, down 2.7% year on year but up 26.35% month on month.
Indonesian coal intakes slumped 61.52% year on year and 35.71% month on month to 614,900 tonnes.
Bituminous coal imports were 3.72 million tonnes in February, rising 1.68% year on year and 8.72% month on month; other coal imports stood at 616,000 tonnes, falling 46.91% year on year and 17.15% month on month.
Taiwan imported a total of 8.5 million tonnes of coal during the first two months of 2023, down 2.4% from a year earlier, with value at $2.19 billion, up 38.03%.
Taiwan imported 12,800 tonnes of coke in February, up 46.83% on the year but down 23.38% from January, with import value at $5.61 million, rising 37.71% from the year prior but falling 25.61% month on month.
