Port Hedland, the largest iron ore export terminal in Western Australia, exported 38.81 million tonnes of iron ore in February, down 1.59% year on year and 19.14% month on month, data from Pilbara Port Authority showed.
In February, the port exported 34.01 million tonnes of iron ore to China, up 1.94% year on year but down 17.46% month on month. China represented 88% of its total iron ore exports.
For the first two months of 2023, Port Hedland's iron ore exports totaled 86.81 million tonnes, down 0.71% year on year; 75.22 million tonnes of iron ore were exported to China, rising 1.90% year on year and accounting for 87% of total.
Port Hedland is one of the world's largest iron ore export ports, through which Australian miners BHP, FMG and Roy Hill export iron ore to the world.
