Mongolian Mining Corporation (MMC), a Mongolia-based coking coal producer listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, registered a 586% surge in raw coal production in the second quarter compared with the preceding year, the company said in its quarterly report.
MMC and its subsidiaries mined 4.13 million tonnes of raw coal during the April-June quarter, representing a 7% growth from the quarter-ago level, data showed.
The company and its affiliates processed 3.64 million tonnes of raw coking coal in the second quarter, rising 311% from the year prior and 16% from the preceding quarter.
Washed coking coal output reached 1.62 million tonnes in the second quarter, climbing 291% year on year and 10% compared with the first quarter. Sales of washed coking coal were 1.58 million tonnes, rising 275% year on year but down 1% from the previous quarter.
MMC currently operates Ukhaa Khudag mine and Baruun Naran mine in South Gobi province. Ukhaa Khudag mine has three coal preparation and washing plants (CHPP), with total raw coal processing capacity of 15 million tonnes per year.
