The coal-fired power generation in the U.S. is forecast to reduce 15% year on year this summer due to higher generation from natural gas and renewables, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on June 8.

Over June-August, electricity generated by natural gas, which is U.S.'s primary power source, is expected to increase 3% year on year, EIA said.

The country's wind and power generation is forecast to grow by 7% and 24% respectively compared with the same period in the preceding year.

EIA also highlighted a substantial increase in battery storage capacity, which surged nearly 90% in the last 12 months to provide power during the period of low wind and solar power generation.
