Northwestern China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region produced 31.82 million tonnes of raw coal from January to April, up 4.7% year on year, with the growth retreating by 0.5 percentage point (pp) compared with the first three months of the year, showed data from the local statistical authority.
Production of general bituminous coal reached 29.53 million tonnes, up 2.4% from a year earlier; coking coal output surged 58.6% to 1.94 million tonnes on the year; and anthracite output rose 10.5% to 351,900 tonnes.
In January-April, Ningxia's raw coal sales reached 17.77 million tonnes, down 30.4% year on year. As of end-April, raw coal stockpiles across the region were at 3.95 million tonnes and enough for 27 days' worth of usage.
Ningxia's industrial electricity production reached 71.26 TWh from January to April, up 0.3% from the preceding year, 3.7 pps lower than in January-March.
Coal-based power generation was 53.32 TWh, down 3.1% year on year, while renewable generation (hydro, wind and solar, etc.) reached 17.94 TWh, rising 12.1% from a year earlier, 3.5 pps and 5.1 pps lower than in January-March respectively.
