Mongolia's border ports connecting China exported a toal of 260,000 tonnes of coal on April 11, notching the highest in history, Chief Cabinet Secretary D. Amarbayasgalan said in a regular meeting.
On October 26, 2022, the government appointed a special representative to Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi JSC, and since then, significant changes have taken place in the company, he said.
Coal production in the state-run coal company was 3.5 times higher and sales income 4.5 times larger. Daily coal exports of the company climbed to a high of 160,000 tonnes during the period of appointment of the representative, D. Amarbayasgalan said.
Besides, coal is gradually shifting to e-auctions on the Mongolian Stock Exchange at ex-border prices, he added.
The Mongolian government also decided to extend the appointment of the special representative after an assessment of his work, according to D. Amarbayasgalan.
