Shanxi Q1 coal production hits record high

Shanxi produced 335 million tonnes of coal during the first quarter in 2023, rising 8.9% year on year and hitting a new high for a single quarter in history. It ranked first in output among other provinces and regions during the first three months, according to data from the provincial energy bureau.


A total of 39 intelligent coal mines and 993 intelligent mining faces have been built in the province, ranking first in the country.


During the first quarter, Shanxi transmitted 3.80 TWh of electricity, rising 16.7% year on year and hitting the highest for the same quarter in history. New energy power consumption was further improved, and the utilization rate of new energy power generation reached 98.02%, according to People's Daily.
