Buliangou, a large coal mine in northern China's Inner Mongolia, has recently obtained the water extraction permit issued by the authority, according to Huadian Coal Industry Group.
This greenlight marked the completion of all procedures after the mine was approved to increase production capacity to 18 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). It would provide legal and effective water source guarantee for subsequent production and water consumption of the mine.
The planned mining area of the project covers approximately 33.21 sq.km, with designed recoverable reserves of around 535 million tonnes.
On October 24, 2021, Buliangou coal mine was included in the nation's fourth batch of coal mines for capacity expansion for coal supply guarantee, allowing it to expand capacity from 15 Mtpa to 18 Mtpa.
Buliangou is the first large-scale coal mine developed, constructed, and operated independently by domestic power companies. The company also owns a coal preparation plant with capacity of 20 Mtpa, a pithead coal gangue power plant (4×300MW, first phase 2×300MW), and a 4.25-km rail line.
