Various regions in China are currently making every effort to increase coal supply and stabilize prices to ensure energy supply for the peak summer period amid significant increase in coal consumption at power plants, according to a report from state media CCTV.
After entering the Xiaoshu solar term, many parts of the country have experienced continuous scorching heat, leading to a sharp increase in coal consumption for power generation.
As of end-June, the power grid load in eastern China's Shandong province reached 97.58 GW, setting a new high.
At Dongtan coal mine owned by Shandong Energy Group in Jining of Shandong, a dedicated train carrying over 3,000 tonnes of high-quality coal is preparing to be sent to two nearby power plants in several days.
In addition, Shandong Energy Group has timely adjusted its production structure and sales layout in order to stabilize prices and ensure supply, directly supplying coal to end-users.
In June, the company provided a total of 1.235 million tonnes of coal to the province, with a contract fulfillment rate of 102.93%.
To further improve coal production efficiency, Yimin coal mine run by China Huaneng Group in Inner Mongolia, the largest open-pit mine in the country, has introduced intelligent information technology methods, making an increase over 30% in mining efficiency.
Yimin open-pit mine has steadily risen its production capacity to 35 million tonnes, and its increment of raw coal production totaled 6.44 million tonnes since last winter.
