Germany's hard coal imports reached 1.97 million tonnes in May, falling 28.70% from a year ago, according to preliminary data from German Statistics Bureau.
The imports also fell 6.13% from April, down for two straight months, data showed.
The import value stood at €503 million (about 4.037 billion yuan), a notable 49.59% year-on-year decrease and a 10.94% month-on-month decline. That put the average import value at €255.17/t, dropping 29.29% compared to the same period last year and 5.13% from the previous month.
In the first five months of 2023, Germany's hard coal imports totaled 12.82 million tonnes, down 18.61% on the year, with the value of imports declining 28.84% year on year to €3.09 billion.
