China's Shanxi province transmitted more than 90 TWh of power outside the province, a notable year-on-year increase of nearly 20%, according to State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company.
Shanxi's outbound electricity showed a significant rise in the first half of this year, effectively supporting regions such as northern China, eastern China and central China. The province delivered 90.45 TWh of electricity to other provinces or regions during January-June, rising 18.06% compared to last year, data showed.
Among them, Shanxi sent 6.60 TWh of power to Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan, up 17.43% on the year; 3.25 TWh of electricity was sent to Hebei, a 5.83% rise from a year ago; central China gained 27.09 TWh, an increase of 41.59% year on year; and 16.95 TWh was sent to Jiangsu, jumping 76.8% from the previous year, the company said.
Shanxi's power grid is an important part of the power transmission from the west to the east and from the north to the south, as well as an outbound power grid including a high proportion of renewable energy and a UHVAC/DC hybrid system.
In addition, Shanxi's installed power capacity was 124 GW as of end-June. Installed thermal power reached 78.86 GW, accounting for 63.43% of the total; hydropower was 2.25 GW, taking up 1.81%; wind and solar power accounted for 34.43% with 42.81 GW; and reserved energy stood at 402MW, accounting for 0.33%.
