SDIC Power Holdings Co., Ltd., a listed power generation subsidiary of State Development & Investment Company (SDIC), generated 32.996 TWh of electricity in April-June 2023, falling 8.97% from a year ago, according to the latest data from the company's quarterly report.
Around 31.94 TWh of power was sold to the grid, 9.82% less than a year earlier, data showed. The on-grid electricity prices averaged 0.404 yuan/KWh, up 15.50% on the year.
Hydropower generation totaled 15.99 TWh in the second quarter, a 35.3% decrease compared with the year-ago quarter. Hydropower connected to the grid was also down 35.38% year on year to 15.88 TWh. The on-grid average price gained 14.68% to 0.322 yuan/KWh.
Thermal power surged 50.25% year on year to 14.58 TWh, with power connected to the grid up 51.11% from the previous year to 13.69 TWh. The on-grid average price rose 0.31% to 0.472 yuan/KWh.
Wind power generation increased 37.51% to 1.82 TWh. On-grid wind power was up 37.65%, with average price declining 10.25% to 0.499 yuan/KWh.
Solar power ascended 19.27% year on year to 605 GWh, with on-grid power up 19.21% but the average price down 17.76% to 0.769 yuan/KWh.
In the first half of 2023, the company generated a total 71.285 TWh of electricity, up 4.58% from a year earlier and around 69.26 TWh of power was sold to the grid, 4.3% more than a year ago. The on-grid electricity prices averaged 0.388 yuan/KWh, up 7.94% on the year.
Hydropower generation decreased 8.32% year on year to 39.36 TWh over January-June, largely due to lower water inflows at hydropower plants. A total of 39.12 TWh of hydropower were connected to the grid, down 8.34% from the year-ago level. On-grid average price rose 9.42% to 0.312 yuan/KWh.
Thermal power rose 25.97% on the year to 27.46 TWh, mainly due to increased electricity consumption and less precipitation across the region, in which 25.78 TWh was connected to the grid, up 26.56% year on year. The on-grid average price gained 18% to 0.472 yuan/KWh.
Wind power generation rose 35.06% to 3.36 TWh during the period, thanks to commissioning of some wind power projects, project acquisitions and better regional wind resources. The power delivered through the grid saw a 35.09% year-on-year increase. The on-grid average price fell 5.76% to 0.494 yuan/KWh.
Solar power increased 16.89% to 1.1 TWh, thanks to the operation of photovoltaic projects and better regional solar resources, in which on-grid power was up 16.88%. On-grid power prices averaged 0.795 yuan/KWh, down 9.73% on the year.
SDIC Power is principally engaged in the investment, construction, operation and management of electric power plants. The company operates hydro, thermal, wind and photovoltaic power plants.
