China exported 0.37 million tonnes of coal in May 2023, falling 12.9% from a year earlier but rising 5.71% from a month ago, according to latest data released by General Administration of Customs.
Value of the coal exports in May was $106.46 million, down 23.9% on the year but up 2.90% on the month. The average export price was calculated at $287.72/t, down $37.58/t from the preceding year and $7.88/t compared with March.
In the first five months of the year, China exported a total 1.61 million tonnes of coal, a 3% increase from a year ago, which was worth $519.53 million, up 6.9% year on year.
The country's coke and semi-coke exports totaled 0.71 million tonnes in May, up 25.2% on the year, but the value of which decreased 59.7% from the year-ago level to $208.92 million.
Total coke exports reached 3.39 million tonnes in January-May, up 6.4% year on year; the export value was $1.10 billion, a 29.3% decrease from the year before.
