Coal production of Mongolia came in at 5.93 million tonnes in May this year, surging 329.44% year on year but dropping 3.05% month on month, showed data from the National Statistical Office of Mongolia.
The country produced 28.95 million tonnes of coal in the first five months of 2023, up 267.31% from the preceding year.
Mongolia's iron ore production was 971,000 tonnes in May, down 15.13% on the year but jumping 215.57% on the month. This included 776,400 tonnes of iron sand, down 16.48% year on year but soaring 311.88% from April, and 194,600 tonnes of iron concentrate, falling 9.28% from a year ago but rising 63.26% month on month.
Production of iron ore in Mongolia totaled 2.19 million tonnes during first five months, slumping 50.46% year on year. Iron sand output was 1.55 million tonnes, down 55.34% year on year and iron concentrate production was 645,200 tonnes, down 32.9%.
