The cumulative volume of coal transported through railways under CR Taiyuan Group in Shanxi province reached 277 million tonnes from January to May of 2023, up 1% from the previous year, state media reported.
Increases in coal consumption has led to higher demand for rail coal transportation, thanks to the continued recovery of national economy, the transformation and upgrading of industries in May.
Coal-dedicated Daqin line completed coal transport of 174 million tonnes, despite extended maintenance in May, helping boost coal inventories at Qinhuangdao and other key ports, the report said, citing CR Taiyuan Group.
Besides Daqin, other main coal-transporting railways in Shanxi, including Wari, Houyue and Shitai, also increased coal transport to areas outside the coal-rich province.
