Shenergy, a major state-run power generator in China's Shanghai city, said it will continue to increase its coal reserves and conduct thorough maintenance in preparation for the forecast demand surge in the peak summer demand period.
Shenergy runs 8 GW of coal-fired power capacity. Its key asset, Shanghai Waigaoqiao No 3 Power Generation plant, has stored 200,000 tonnes of coal, which can support around two weeks of its operations.
Shenergy's power generation represented 17.3% of Shanghai's total coal-fired power output in 2022.
The company said it will also fully utilize its wind power plants to secure power supply.
