China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., the country's largest listed coal producer, reported its commercial coal output was up 7.6% year on year and 3.1% on the month to 26.9 million tonnes in May.
Coal sales rose 4% from the year prior and 0.3% month on month to 36.7 million tonnes last month, the company said in its monthly operation report on Jun 16.
In January-May, the company's commercial coal production totaled 133.1 million tonnes, inching up 0.4% year on year, while sales were 180.9 million tonnes, rising 1.7% year on year.
The giant miner's coal vessel loading at Huanghua port totaled 15.9 million tonnes in May, down 1.9% year on year and 12.6% month on month; volumes at the company's Tianjin coal wharf were 4.0 million tonnes, up 14.3% year on year and unchanged from a month ago.
Meanwhile, the firm's power generation totaled 15.58 TWh in May, rising 32.4% year on year, sending the total to 821.6 TWh during January-May, rising 15.2% on the year.
Its power sales were 14.64 TWh in May, a 33% rise on the year, while total sales reached 77.31 TWh over the first five months, rising 15.3% year on year.
