China's electricity consumption climbed 7.4% from a year ago to 722.2 TWh in May, showed data from the National Energy Administration on June 14.
Specifically, for non-residential segment, the primary industries – mainly the agricultural sector – consumed 10.3 TWh of electricity, up 16.9% year on year. The secondary industries – mainly the industrial sector – used 495.8 TWh, a 4.1% rise on the year, and the tertiary industries – mainly the service sector – up 20.9% to 128.5 TWh.
Residential power usage registered an 8.2% rise from the preceding year to 87.6 TWh in May.
Over January-May, China's power consumption increased 5.2% to 3,532.5 TWh.
