Global crude steel production rose 1.7% from a year ago to 165 million tonnes in March, showed data from the World Steel Association (WSA).
In March, the top ten crude steel producers were China, India, Japan, the U.S., Russia, South Korea, Germany, Brazil, Turkey and Italy.
China churned out about 95.7 million tonnes of crude steel in the month, up 6.9% year on year, and India's output rose by 2.7% year on year to 11.4 million tonnes.
Japan saw a year-on-year fall of 5.9% in its crude steel output to 7.5 million tonnes in March. The output of the U.S. decreased 2.1% on the year to 6.7 million tonnes.
In the month, crude steel output in Russia is estimated to tick up 0.4% from a year ago to 6.6 million tonnes. Crude steel output of South Korea climbed 1.9% to 5.8 million tonnes, while that of Germany declined 0.5% to 3.3 million tonnes, data showed.
Production from Brazil decreased 8.7% year on year to 2.7 million tonnes, while that of Turkey declined 18.6% to 2.7 million tonnes. Crude steel production of Italy climbed 2.7% on the year to 2.2 million tonnes.
In January-March, crude steel output worldwide dipped 0.1% to 459 million tonnes.
