Turkey imported 2.69 million tonnes of coal in February, up 0.53% from the preceding year but down 8% from a month earlier, a new low since June last year, the country's trading statistics showed.
Import amount in February dipped 1.28% year on year and dropped 11.1% month on month to $480 million.
The country's total coal imports in January to February were 0.88% higher from the year-ago level to 5.61 million tonnes, with value up 4.25% to $1.02 billion.
Bituminous coal imports stood at 2.42 million tonnes in February, up 10.02% year on year but down 6.64% on the month. The imports amounted to $409 million, up 20.75% year on year but down 7.54% from the preceding month.
Coking coal imports were 218,500 tonnes, falling 41.95% year on year and 13.15% month on month. Anthracite imports slumped 52.4% on the year and 38.83 on the month to 44,200 tonnes.
Coke imports stood at 20,400 tonnes, diving 77.93% year on year and 45.49% on the month, with import value down 86.22% on the year and 45.39% on the month to $6.4 million.
