China's Ceke border crossing imported a record high of 3.32 million tonnes of coal during January-March, as local officials continued to optimize the customs clearance process and adopted container hoisting + cross-border transportation mode to smoothen the trade flows.
Ceke is the second-largest inland road border crossing between China and Mongolia, second only to Ganqimaodu.
Coal imports presented an uptrend during the first three months. In January, Ceke imported 750,000 tonnes of coal, rising 16.44% from a month earlier, with daily inflows calculated at 32,600 tonnes.
Intakes in February were registered at 1.08 million tonnes, 43.77% higher than the preceding month, with daily shipments at 50,900 tonnes.
Imports came in at 1.49 million tonnes in March, rising 37.96% month on month, with a daily volume of 57,200 tonnes, data showed.
The port management department of Alxa League stated it will accelerate the "ten in and six out" freight channels into use, and steadily promote cross-border transportation.
New modes such as container transportation, AGV unmanned driving, and intelligent heavy truck transportation will be continuously implemented to further improve the efficiency of port customs clearance and ensure the delivery of 20 million tonnes of coal import target.
