China's coal imports continued to see strong year-on-year growth and ticked up from the preceding month in June, according to the latest customs data released on July 13.
The country imported a total of 39.87 million tonnes of coal in June, rising 110% or 20.89 million tonnes on the year and climbing 0.7% or 287,000 tonnes compared with the previous month, according to the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
Value of the imports totaled $4.49 billion in June, rising 47.6% year on year but down 2.7% month on month. Sxcoal calculated the average import price at $112.6/t, falling $47.7/t year on year and $3.9/t month on month.
China imported a total of 221.93 million tonnes of coal in January-June, up 93% on the year. The imports value was $27.67 billion, up 49.2% on the year, the GAC data showed.
