China exported 43.58 million tonnes of steel products in the first half of 2023, rising 31.3% from a year ago, according to latest data released by the General Administration of Customs on July 13.
Export value totaled $46.86 billion during the period, down 1.1% on the year. That put the average export price of steel products at $1,075.22/t, 24.7% lower than the previous year.
In June alone, finished steel exports in the country were registered at 7.51 million tonnes, a 0.6% year-on-year decrease and a 10.1% month-on-month decline, data showed.
The volume was worth $6.71 billion, down 42.7% from a year earlier and 13.1% on the month, with the average export price calculated at $892.35/t, falling 42.4% from the preceding year and 3.2% from May.
