China's steel products imports were registered at 3.74 million tonnes during January-June 2023, a year-on-year slump of 35.2%, according to the data released by the General Administration of Customs on July 13.
The import amount came in at $6.43 billion during the first six months, down 28.6% on the year. The average import price was calculated at $1,717.6/t, up 10.2% year on year.
In June, China imported 612,000 tonnes of steel products, down 22.6% year on year and 3% month on month.
The total imports were worth $1.02 billion, down 25.8% year on year and 7.2% month on month, with the average import price at $1,661.4/t, down 4.1% year on year and 4.4% month on month.
During the first six months, China imported 580 million tonnes of iron ore and concentrates, up 7.7% year on year. Import amounts were $65.96 billion, down 5% year on year, with the average import price at $114.5/t, which was down 11.8% from a year ago.
In June, China imported 95.52 million tonnes of iron ore and concentrates, rising 7.4% year on year but dipping 0.7% month on month. Imports were worth $10.19 billion, 15.1% lower than a year ago and down 9.3% month on month. Import price was down 21% on the year and 8.7% on the month to $106.7/t.
