Daily crude steel output at key member firms of China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) stood at 2.25 million tonnes during May 1-10, rising 2.0% compared with the previous ten days, the CISA data showed.
Daily production of pig iron averaged 2.01 million tonnes during the given period, inching down 1.15% from ten days ago. Daily output of finished steel declined 7.89% from ten days ago to 2.09 million tonnes.
Nationwide, daily production of crude steel is estimated to gain 1.18% from ten days ago to 2.91 million tonnes. The daily pig iron output is calculated at 2.44 million tonnes, dipping 0.98%, while daily finished steel production is estimated at 3.68 million tonnes, down 2.51%.
As of end of May 10, CISA key member steel mills held 17.61 million tonnes of finished steel stocks, 2.76% or 0.50 million tonnes lower than late-April and reducing 3.87% or 0.71 million tonnes compared with the same period in the preceding month. The volume was 6.07% lower compared with the same period in the preceding year, data showed.
