China's coke production totaled 41.29 million tonnes in April, up 2.3% year on year but down 1.2% month on month, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed.
Daily production averaged 1.38 million tonnes in April, a 2.1% increase from March.
Throughout April, the Chinese coke market witnessed six rounds of price corrections, resulting in a cumulative decline of 500-600 yuan/t.
In May, another round of price declines occurred, further dampening coke producers' production enthusiasm and leading to an expected decrease in production for the month.
Production of the steelmaking material totaled 160 million tonnes in the first four months of 2023, up 3.7% from the same period last year, the data showed.
