Xishan Coal Electricity Coal Gasification Co., Ltd. is required to dismantle its coke oven by the end of March this year, Shanxi Coking Coal Energy Group announced recently.

The coke oven in Taiyuan city, northern China's Shanxi province has chamber height at 5.5 meters and annual production capacity of 600,000 tonnes. Xishan Coal Electricity Coal Gasification Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanxi Coking Coal Group.

The required closure comes after a long period of loss of the plant in recent years and meanwhile aligns with the local government's efforts to cut emissions and protect environment.

After the production facility is dismantled, the existing coal storage and blending equipment as well as dedicated railway link will be re-utilized to provide coal blending service and washed coal products to the customers.
