Central China's Hubei province consumed 19.76 TWh of electricity in April, up 4.71% from the year-ago level, showed data from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
In April, power consumption of the primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector, was 269 GWh, up 21.22% year on year; that of the secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, totaled 12.71 TWh, up 1.03% on the year.
The tertiary industries, mainly the service sector, consumed 3.77 TWh of electricity, rising 16.23% year on year. The residential power consumption was 3.01 TWh, up 6.60% from the previous year.
Hubei generated a total 21.95 TWh of electricity in April, down 4.41% from the year-ago level.
Three Gorges hydropower station, China's largest state-owned hydropower plant, generated 3.95 TWh, down 43.82% year on year.
Power generation of other companies rose by 12.99% from the preceding year to 18 TWh in April, of which, hydropower plants generated 2.92 TWh, falling 45.24% year on year. Thermal power generation was 11.16 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 47.17%.
In the first four months of the year, the province's total power consumption and generation achieved 81.32 TWh (-0.10% YoY) and 91.31 TWh (-3.66% YoY) respectively.
