China's independent coke firms churned out 30.08 million tonnes of the steelmaking material in June, falling 3.9% year on year and accounting for 73.9% of the country's total coke output, showed data from the China Coking Industry Association (CCIA).
Coke output from steel firms' captive coking plants registered 10.61 million tonnes in June, up 3.1% from the preceding year, the CCIA data showed.
The combined coke output reached 40.69 million tonnes, 2.2% lower than in June 2022, the data showed.
During the first six months, coke output of the independent coking plants stood at 180.72 million tonnes, up 1.1% year on year, while that of the captive firms was up 3.9% to 63.11 million tonnes.
China's total coke output was 243.83 million tonnes in January-June, rising 1.8% from a year earlier.
Coke output of member firms of the CCIA totaled 19.41 million tonnes in June, climbing 1.13% from the year-ago level.
