Electricity consumption in central China's Henan province declined 12.96% from a year ago to 34.38 TWh in June, according to the latest data from National Energy Administration's Henan office on August 1.
Total power use in the first half of this year picked up by 0.80% year on year to 190.81 TWh.
The primary industries – mainly the agricultural sector – used 718 GWh in June, down 21.85% on the year. The secondary industries – mainly the industrial sector – consumed 18.71 TWh, dropping 6.79% YoY. The tertiary industries – mainly the service sector – used 7.66 TWh, a 6.73% decrease YoY. Residential power demand fell 29.19% YoY to 7.29 TWh.
Specifically, industrial power consumption declined 6.49% from a year earlier to 18.32 TWh, with consumption for manufacturing at 12.93 TWh, down 5.14%.
Non-ferrous metal producers used 3.49 TWh of power in the month, down 2.64% year on year. Ferrous metal producers used 1.11 TWh, down 5.45% YoY. Chemical producers used 1.42 TWh, 12.05% lower than the previous year.
Power generation in the province decreased 13.16% on the year to 28.92 TWh in June, taking the total generation in January-June to 160.77 TWh, dipping 0.15% YoY.
Hydropower generation gained 40.08% to 1.82 TWh. Thermal power output fell 20.73% to 20.84 TWh. Wind power was down 17.30% to 2.82 TWh. Solar power rose 49.25% to 3.45 TWh.
Average utilization of power generators in the province reduced 153 hours year on year to 1,292 hours by the end of June. Hydropower utilization fell 387 hours to 1,497 hours. Thermal power utilization fell 122 hours to 1,582 hours. Wind power utilization rose 59 hours to 1,187 hours. Solar power utilization declined 6 hours to 560 hours. Average utilization hours of unified-dispatched thermal power units fell 393 hours to 1,501 hours.
Installed power capacity in Henan rose 14.62 GW year on year to 128.68 GW by end-June. Hydropower made up 3.91% at 5.03 GW. Thermal power accounted for 56.73% at 73.00 GW. Wind power constituted 15.33% at 19.72 GW. Solar power represented 24.03% at 30.92 GW.
