Global crude steel production fell 2.4% from a year ago to 161 million tonnes in April, showed data from the World Steel Association (WSA).
In April, the top ten crude steel producers were China, India, Japan, the U.S., Russia, South Korea, Germany, Brazil, Turkey and Iran.
China produced 92.6 million tonnes of crude steel in the month, down 1.5% year on year, and India's output rose 3.2% year on year to 10.7 million tonnes.
Japan saw a year-on-year fall of 3.1% in its crude steel production to 7.2 million tonnes in April. The output of the U.S. decreased by 5.3% on the year to 6.6 million tonnes.
In the month, crude steel output in Russia was estimated to tick up 1.9% from a year ago to 6.4 million tonnes. Crude steel output of South Korea climbed 3.0% from the previous year to 5.7 million tonnes, while that of Germany declined 3.8% to 3.2 million tonnes, data showed.
Crude steel production in Brazil decreased 5.9% year on year to 2.8 million tonnes, and that of Turkey declined 20.6% to 2.7 million tonnes, while that of Iran climbed 5.9% on the year to 3.1 million tonnes.
In January-April, crude steel output worldwide dipped 0.3% to 623 million tonnes.
