China stands ready to work with Russia to forge a closer energy partnership and jointly maintain global energy security, Xinhua News reported, citing President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter sent to the 4th China-Russia Energy Business Forum on November 29.
The meeting comes amid preparations for a price cap on Russian oil by G7 countries to be imposed from December 5 that aims to curb Moscow's ability to fund its special military operation in Ukraine.
Xi said the Chinese side is also ready to join hands with Russia to push for clean and green energy development, and safeguard international energy security and the stability of industrial and supply chains, thereby making new contributions to the long-term, healthy and sustainable development of the global energy market.
Russia's energy exports to China have increased in value by 64% this year, and by 10% in volume, Reuters reported citing Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
In response to a G7 price cap proposal, Russia said it will re-route supplies to countries that do not support the plan.
