The coal storage of major thermal power enterprises in southwestern China's Sichuan province had reached 5.98 million tonnes as of November 29, beating the scheduled target of 5.8 million tonnes by the end of the month, Sichuan Daily reported.
The inventory level means power supply of the major hydropower province will be ensured during the dry season of this winter and next spring from December 1 to April 28, and coal-fired thermal power enterprises could realize peak power generation.
This was mainly due to the support of the relevant ministries, railway bureau, and strong supplies from Shaanxi and Xinjiang.
During this winter and next spring, Sichuan's hydropower generation is expected to decrease, but the overall power consumption is forecast to grow by 12%, which requires coal-fired power supply as backup energy.
The province will continue to tap the potential and increase supply not only from power coal supply within the province but also supply from Shaanxi and Xinjiang to further increase coal stock level.
